IFrom Tirana to Michigan

A diplomat’s training, brought home.

Nicholas grew up in a close Albanian-American family in Michigan, raised by parents who were both college-educated engineers and by grandparents who carried the old country’s work ethic, warmth and hospitality.

He studied international relations at Oakland University, in the first class to graduate with the degree, and went on to earn a graduate degree in political science at Wayne State University.

He then joined the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania. When his supervisor fell ill, the young intern was asked to lead her projects, working alongside NATO, the Albanian State Police and border authorities on cross-border security and demining.

It was there he learned what he now brings to every client: prepare thoroughly, listen carefully, keep your word, and negotiate with calm conviction.

IIComing Home

A family business, made his own.

When his family needed him, Nicholas came home to Michigan. His father had built a career in real estate, and the business called to him. In his very first month as an agent, he had three deals.

He began at a luxury brokerage and grew his business entirely by word of mouth. He has never bought a lead. In time he founded Diplomat Realty, a boutique brokerage built on the principles he learned in diplomacy.

III · Reputation

“My face is the most important thing. It’s not money. Money comes and goes.”

In Albanian culture, your “face” is your honor and your good name. Nicholas runs his business by it: no surprises, no hidden fees and no pressure. Clients hear the truth about a property, even when it costs him the sale.

IVThe Service

Available when it matters.

Clients can call Nicholas at three in the morning, and he will answer. He attends the inspections and the appraisals, solves problems himself, and has never lost a client’s earnest money deposit.

The relationship does not end at closing. Every client receives a closing gift, whatever the price of their home, and hears from us through the year.

Everyone who works with Diplomat Realty is treated with the same respect, whatever their background, budget or story.
